Twice a year, the Yale University Chinese American Student Association and the Taiwanese American Society join forces. The groups host a free full-day cultural event for families with adopted Chinese Children. These events are known as CASPY (Chinese Adopted Siblings Program for Youth).
Children are paired with a Yale student who acts as his/her big sibling for the day. The kids participate in a day of fun cultural activities which celebrate Chinese heritage. Kids play games, collect prizes, and learn about Chinese culture. The day ends with the kids and big siblings showing off their skills in a talent show. Parents are invited to workshops where they hear from grown adopted children and share their own stories.
This April, ECARD joined the fun. In addition to sponsoring the event, our ambassadors were happy to be there to meet the families and hand out some traditional Chinese treats and crafts. ECARD is proud to help share Chinese heritage and joy with these special families.
